Join the City of Fairfax Band for one of our favorite traditions of the year—the Children's Concert! This family-friendly event features music that kids and adults will love, from Bluey to The Mandalorian and much more: there's something for everyone! Meet members of the City of Fairfax Police and Fire Departments, connect with City Council and School Board members, enjoy ice cream, and experience an evening of music and fun for all ages. Whether you're a longtime fan or joining us for the first time, this beloved community tradition is the perfect way to celebrate summer with family and friends. Events for kids start at 6:30pm.

Come hang with the Main Street Community Band as we wrap up our summer concert series with the vibrant sounds of "Summer Nights!" Cool off for an evening and join us on a journey across genres and generations, with a playlist that captures the magic of twilight, warm evening breezes, and late-night block parties. From the electrifying grooves of Grease and the whimsical rhythms of Pelican Dance to the driving rhythms of Duke Ellington's Caravan and Paul Simon's You Can Call Me Al, this will be great fun for the whole family!

Join the Main Street Community Band as we kick off our summer concert series with a bright, high-energy celebration of "Summer Days!" Come beat the heat and experience soaring, patriotic tunes like Carmen Dragon’s America the Beautiful and a Salute to the Armed Forces, alongside sun-soaked rock and pop hits from The Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin. From the cinematic romance of La La Land to Percy Grainger's delightful Country Gardens (as well as some rubber chickens!), this concert promises non-stop entertainment for all ages. Gather your family, grab your neighbors, and enjoy a vibrant celebration of local live music!

A Pocket Full of Posy

A Pocket Full of Posy blossoms with character and color as The City of Fairfax Band explores musical storytelling both old and new. At the heart of the program is Percy Grainger’s Lincolnshire Posy—a landmark work that reshaped the wind band world—paired with a brand-new commission by rising composer Nicole Piunno. We’ll also feature the winner of our annual Young Artist Competition (Jonathan Nickel, Senior at Robinson High School), along with timeless favorites by Lerner & Loewe and George Gershwin. It’s a rich, lyrical evening that celebrates the past, present, and future of great music.

As we celebrate Fairfax’s annual ‘Spotlight on the Arts’ festival, the Main Street Community Band presents We The People, a powerful musical celebration of America’s past, present, and future. This thought-provoking program reimagines beloved folk songs and patriotic tunes through the voices of diverse and contemporary composers. From the bold opening of Fanfare for World Peace to the sweeping beauty of Ticheli’s Shenandoah and the powerful strains of Copland’s Variations on a Shaker Melody, each work offers a fresh perspective on familiar traditions. Highlights include Amanda Aldridge’s spirited march On Parade, Bernstein’s iconic America from ‘West Side Story’, and Andrew David Perkins’ contemporary masterpiece Tuebor. Christmas in Fairfax

Celebrate the season with joy, tradition, and a touch of magic at Christmas in Fairfax! This beloved annual concert brings together The City of Fairfax Band, Fairfax Choral Society , Gainesville Community Choir for a heartwarming evening of holiday music, featuring selections from Home Alone, John Rutter’s jubilant Gloria, Hanson’s breathtaking Chorale and Alleluia, and many more festive favorites. With a special visit from Santa himself, this FREE concert is the perfect way to kick off the holidays for audiences of all ages—just be sure to reserve your tickets early!

Fairfax Fall Festival

Kick off the Fairfax Fall Festival with a burst of energy and color as the Main Street Community Band fills the morning air with music for the whole family!
