Music Director Search Update

The application period ended on April 1, Finalists will be announced by July 1, 2024.

Nationally recognized for excellence, the City of Fairfax Band Association (CFBA) is a nonprofit organization including adult volunteer and student musicians who enjoy providing high-quality musical performances to the Northern Virginia community. Now in its 53rd concert season, the City of Fairfax Band (CFB) brings the best in symphonic band music with an annual concert subscription series, Independence Day celebrations, and summertime Concerts in the Park. CFB also performs occasionally out of town.

Other ensembles within the CFBA include Main Street Community Band, Northern Virginia Youth Winds, Die Alte Kameraden German Band, Fairfax Saxophone Quartet, Fairfax Swing Band, Main Street Brass Quintet, and Honor Flight Band.

The Music Director serves as the Conductor of the City of Fairfax Band and is responsible for the artistic direction and performance quality of all eight ensembles of the CFBA. The Music Director is supported by an active Board of Directors, a skilled and enthusiastic membership and a solid financial foundation due to our generous audience and sponsors.

The following should be included with the application:

1) A cover letter describing your experience and interest in the position

2) A resume of your professional experience and educational background

3) Playlists of three recent concerts you have programmed

4) Links to selected video recordings of your conducting (e.g., YouTube, Facebook)

5) Three references (with contact information)

Finalists will be notified by July 1, 2023 and will be invited as part of the selection process to guest conduct during the 2023-24 concert season.
