Henry Heidtmann Conducts Main Street Community Band

After eight years as Assistant Conductor, Henry Heidtmann has been appointed Conductor of the Main Street Community Band with the launch of the 2025-2026 season. An active performer, arranger and educator, Mr. Heidtmann has been a member of the Main Street Community Band since 2017, contributing as a trumpeter, percussionist, and conductor.

Henry Heidtmann serves as Associate Director of Bands at The Potomac School in McLean, VA since 2019, where he has directed concert band, jazz band, pep band, and percussion ensemble for grades 4-12. A native of Winston-Salem, NC, he earned his Bachelor of Music degree from Appalachian State University, studying conducting with John Ross and piano with Bair Shagdaron.

An active performer and educator, Mr. Heidtmann has been a member of the Main Street Community Band since 2017, performing on trumpet and percussion in addition to conducting. He performed with the Fairfax Swing Band for seven years, and has appeared with numerous ensembles throughout Northern Virginia. A dedicated arranger of band music, his works have been performed by ensembles ranging from elementary through high school bands, collegiate marching bands, and adult/community groups.

Mr. Heidtmann is a member of the National Association for Music Education, Virginia Music Educators Association, Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, the Association of Concert Bands, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. His contributions to music education and community bands have been recognized with the Tommy Guilbert “Music for Life” New Members Award from the Association of Concert Bands and a Citation of Excellence from the National Band Association.
