>> Fairfax Band to Play in France
     for D-Day Ceremonies in June

Members of the City of Fairfax Band Association are headed to France June 1-8 to perform in Normandy and Paris.  In Normandy, the band will provide the music for one of the year’s most significant observances of D-Day (June 6, 1944): the commemoration and wreath laying at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, which overlooks historic Omaha Beach.

Also, the band will perform in ceremonies at the Brittany American Cemetery and Memorial in Saint-James, France; for a D-Day musical salute and parade in the town of Sainte-Mère-Église; and will cap off their trip with a concert in Paris.

"The City Band: City of Fairfax's Music Ambassador"

Local filmmaker Jason Scadron produced this short documentary about the band for the Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center. Enjoy the story, the music and a familiar cast of characters.
