MAIN STREET COMMUNITY BAND

The Main Street Community Band, created to accommodate the association’s growth, has come into its own as a young, vibrant and talented volunteer ensemble. Members range from those dusting off their high school instruments to more advanced players, including local music educators. The group plays regular season concerts as well as outdoor engagements. We’re open to adult wind, brass, and percussion players at least 18 years of age. We look forward to Wednesday evenings to spend time with friends, playing interesting and fun music.

Jeff Seffens

Our Musical Director

Geoffrey K. Seffens leads Main Street. A native of the City of Fairfax, Jeff graduated from the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music and served as band director at the Katherine Johnson Middle School in Fairfax for almost three decades. Jeff’s easy rapport with his Main Street musicians and his teaching approach to conducting makes this one of the most popular and collegial community bands anywhere. Some of Jeff’s former students have returned to play in his band after college, and all members enjoy his teacher’s approach to rehearsing and conducting.
