Additional expectations are founded on the understanding that membership in NVYW is sought and achieved through a demonstrated standard of excellence, on the individual and organizational level. Therefore, it is understood and expected that members will meet and endorse the following:

• Flawless attendance at rehearsals and events
• Preparation of individual parts to facilitate interpretive-oriented rehearsals
• Punctuality
• A professional demeanor and rehearsal ethic at all rehearsals and performances
• Bringing instruments, accessories, music and pencil to all rehearsals and performances
• Meeting obligations and expectations of the base school band and director
• Academic success in required and selected coursework
• Encouragement and support of fellow members in seeking musical excellence
