Several small ensembles have formed within The City of Fairfax Band. The groups are extremely active; their performances (separate from those of the City Band itself) now total more than 150 per year. The ensembles sprang up on their own, motivated through experienced players whose enthusiasm for playing musical forms from baroque to jazz led them to form groups concentrating on those modes and others.
