The Young Artist Competition

The application deadline for the 2012 competition is February 15, 2012. The Finalist Recital will be held at 7 pm, Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Old Town Hall, 3999 University Drive, Fairfax. The winner will perform with the City of Fairfax Band in concert at 8 pm, Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Fairfax High School. Applicants to the competition should ensure before entering that they are able to commit to both the March finalist recital and the May performance dates.

Since 1996, the CFBA has sponsored the Young Artist Competition to encourage the development of stand-out high school musicians who plan to pursue a musical career. The winner of the annual competition is the featured guest soloist at the April concert and is given a financial award of $2,000 in support of future music endeavors.

To be eligible, the student must be a junior or senior enrolled in a band or orchestra program in a northern Virginia high school.
