Sit back and enjoy the sounds of a bygone era as the City of Fairfax Band presents music in honor of those who fought for our nation in World War II. Joining us in our production of the swing classics of the era will be swing band leader and trombonist Eric Felten, and the female vocal trio, The Swing Set.

Post-Concert Review

The Greatest Generation concert was outstanding. The second half held special appeal for the former residents of Quantico Marine Base who attended. Two very active mentally and physically former Quantico Marine Officers' Wives in their late 80s and early 90s tappedtheir fingers and toes, as they listened and sang along with the music that recalled life with their spouses at Quantico dancing to the music at Marine balls and other social events of the 1940s and 50s while in the service. They shared memories of the war years working on base as teachers in the base schools, seamstresses and bandage folders to support the troups . This concert provided a wonderful opportuity for them to share experiences and for us to show appreciation to them.

Thank Bob for programing the great swing arrangements, the "Andrew's Sisters" and "Glenn Miller" as well as "Victory at Sea." "National Emblem March" gave the color guard real class!
